Medical post graduate counselling resumes today

BHOPAL: Counselling for medical post graduate 2014 seats for private and government medical colleges will resume on Monday. Supreme Court had put on hold counselling process on April 28.

According to directorate of medical education (DME) director Dr SS Kushwah, registration process for all seats will take place from May 5 to 9. "Candidates, who have already registered in April, are not required to re-register again. After completion of registration and scrutiny, choice filling and choice locking will take place online," he said.

According to the schedule, processing and declaration of seat allotment will take place from May 10. PG counselling is for MD and MS, diploma and dental degree (MDS) courses for admission to medical and dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh.

Counselling was put on hold, after SC directive following a petition by Ishita Dua and others v/s state of Madhya Pradesh. Petitioner argued that Madhya Pradesh domicile applicants who completed their MBBS from outside the state should not be considered as domicile. According to Dr Kushwah, state government's view has been upheld by SC and any student from MP, no matter where he or she has studied would be considered as a domicile.
